Cyn Meets Zoltan-Five Finger Death Punch Concert

You know when you are completely addicted to a particular song, that you just can't get it out of your head?  Well magnify that by ten thousand and that is how I feel about this band 5FDP, especially their song "The Bleeding."
With pounding metal riffs, interesting melodic solos, and raw emotional lyrics, there is a lot to love about this band

This is a picture that I took behind the concert venue.  It's a photo of guitar virtuoso, hungarian born Zoltan Bathory.   Zoltan is the epitome of the European metal player, and brings those sensibilities to this truly American metal band.  I happen to be walking to the show, up 6th avenue in Ybor city (where I knew their trailer was parked) and after walking by it like 10 times, low and behold there he was.  The one man I wanted to meet.   He just happend to be taking a photo with a young fan.  I asked and he gratiously allowed me to snap this shot.   I quickly thanked him and wished him luck not wanting to take away too much of his time.

This concert was at the Ritz Ybor, a small intimate setting with great acoustics and a perfect way to get up close and personal.   I managed to get about 4 deep from the stage-right in front of Zoltan-the best spot.  He looked right at me a couple of times, and tried to throw a pick my way-he must have recognized me from a couple of hours before with the photo.

The show itself was spectacular.   As always Five Finger Death Punch brings unbelieveable energy and quality to their performances.  Lead vocalist Ivan Moody expertly turned the crowd (of mostly young angry men) into one big gang of moshers and crowd surfers, he used cool arm and graphic body language to bring to life the agnsty angry sentiments so blatenly obvious in thier lyrics.

5FDP opened with Ashes and closed thier show with the crowd pleasing "The Bleeding."  They did both of their two add on tracks, "Never Enough and Stranger than Fiction" and hit all of their great album tracks best of which of course is title track "The Way of the Fist."

This shot was taken from my spot on the steps about 50 feet back.  Afterwards I made my way forward and was about 5 feet from the stage.

Opening Acts:
Another Black Day
Bury Your Dead
In This Moment

All the opening bands were great, I think I liked Another Black Day the best.  I love thier version of pure clean hard rock and they sounded great.    I was actually disappointed by In This Moment, but I can't really put my finger on why.   They were very tight, all their riffs were thumping pure heavy metal and for a female led metal band, they sounded suprisingly hard and raw--she has a great death growl too.   They just didn't get the crowd going.  Not a single mosher.   I sensed the audienced didn't know what to make of a female led Metalcore band.
