3 Doors Down

Mark and I took in 3 Doors Down for the second time since we've been together.   This band has the unique status of being the first live rock concert that Mark and I ever saw together.   Seems fitting that we are starting our 10th year together with the same concert.

Kinda De Ja Vu if you ask me.

As with the first go round, 3DD didn't disappoint. Brad Arnold's voice is much matured  from the young kids we saw in '97, but for the better.  He sounded great.   This boy can sing.

My biggest complaint was the number of ballads in their set list, but I guess since many of their chart toppers are on the slower side, it was to be expected.   Still they played my favorites, Duck and Run, Loser, Kryptonite and my new favorite Citizen Soldier.   They also played just about every other song they have a video for.   They ended their show with When I'm Gone, quite fitting.

Mark commented at how well 3DD puts their whole brand together.   It was quite evident in the show.  Their nice-boy look, clean sound, and emphasis on the soldiers, it was all very apple pie Americana.   Great for selling albums, and they do it really well and sound great at the same time.   The fans loved them, sang every song and were surprisingly mostly older women 30's and 40's.  Good for them, they seem very deserving.

The Hard Rock Cafe
In case I forget the next time we buy tickets for this venue, remember we hated the balcony.   We've sat up there many times before and Bush sounded great from up there.   However, most bands do not.   I think it's the way the Hard Rock sound system works.    Acoustics were much better from the floor.   Worth standing.
