10 Years at the Social in Orlando

You can see hundreds of concerts, and still not experience anything like a fantastic band in a 400 person venue.   Even better, three amazing bands is a small venue where the bands hang out with the fans,  That was the  10 Years concert at the Social in Orlando.  Touring with 10 Years, The Leo Project and Adelitas Way.

I can't think of enough exclamations to articulate the talent at this show.   The Leo Project started playing and we knew we had found another great band.  Wow, these kids out of Kansas City MO. have a tight heavy sound and frontman Tyler pulled double duty on vocals and guitar. We were  impressed with all the guys.  Lance on drums, drove the energy with some fast and furious sequences and Creighton has a metal flair on guitar that I thoroughly appreciated.

Adelitas Way, well what can I say except I'm headed up to So. Carolina to see them again.   Another group chock full of talent, but the story here is 17 year old lead guitarist Chris Iorio.   The minute he started to play, the venue was captivated.  You can find some of his solos out there on the web. According to his webpage bio, Chris has been featured nationally for his talent.  Everyone at the show, I daresay, felt they were watching the next Eddie VanHalen.

10 Years

And then there was 10 Years.   I am constantly trying to articulate what it is that makes this band so completely addictive.  I have finally come to realize that it very simply is their full complete spectrum of talent.  Mix  heavy, driving guitar riffs, creative drum sequences, strong passionate and emotional vocals and wrap it into a package of fantastic song writing and you have simply some of the best songs out there at the moment.

10 Years has been compared to Tool, Staind, Chevelle and Incubus and indeed you can pick any one of 10 Year's songs and point to some similarities.  But experiencing this band live is completely different than listening to their albums.  I found it interesting that frontman Jesse Hasek was much more expressive and passionate then when I saw them in Dec with Mudvayne.  Perhaps it was the smaller more intimate venue or simply because these fans were there to see THEM!  Jesse had this crowd eating out of the palm of his hand.  Most of the fans were singing ALL of the lyrics to every song.  Watching Jesse at this show sort of reminded me of Prince back in the 80's at the Purple Rain tour.   Below you can see some of the shots I took of Jesse on his knees crooning into the mic.  The emotion coming off that stage just 4 feet away was incredible.

Set list for 10 Years at the Social

I looked for a 10 Years set list online and couldn't find one. So this concert I planned to make note of each and every song played at the show.  This was much harder than I anticipated b.c first that meant I had to memorize every song from their 2 albums.   Not just the names and lyrics, but know them well enough to be able to say which song it was.  I thought I did a pretty good job, but when you're in the middle of the show, it all goes right out of your head.   Luckily  the Iphone has a recording app and I captured a snippet from each song.  Unfortunately the recording was so poor I had a heck of a time deciphering each track.

Ultimately I think I got the list correct.  Here is how I heard it:

The Recipe
Through the Iris
Beautiful
Half Life
Russian Roulette
11am Daydreamer
Autumn Effect
Prey
Empires
Actions and Motives
Alabama
So Long Goodbye
Wasteland
