HIlton Head Trip
Mom and I headed to Hilton Head on Thursday 4/23. The plan was to take a nice leisurely road trip estimated at about 6 hours. We made lots of stops, particularly at all of the Starbucks along the way. The drive itself was uneventful, except on the way back with a stop to buy mom a pink Nano for her birthday.
HHI itself was green and picturesque. The town obviously takes pains to ensure every strip mall is set back from the road and is hidden behind trees. For an Island no bigger than 20 miles long, I understand there to be 70 plus golf courses. So even though it looks green, I can't imagine the place is environmentally friendly.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Dillon Rd, right on the main street onto the island. Highly recommended considering that Starbucks is less than a 1/2 mile across the street. Quite convenient considering the numerous daily visits.
Friday during the day we roamed the Island and headed to the very tip for some great shopping. Friday evening was the concert, mom hung out with me at the venue till about an hour before the show. On Saturday, we met Bruce, Diosa and Lauren at the local Seafood festival and tried some local restaurant fare. Then headed over to Bruce's for dessert and a preview of Lauren's recital.
