Pipes Benetar...I mean Pat
30 Years later, Pat and her husband Spyder continue to get us "All Fired Up" to some of the best 80's rock songs. One might forget how many great tracks they have, (19 Top 40 hits to be exact) but just hit up one of their 30th anniversary tour concerts and you will be pleasantly reminded. Of course they performed the famous Hit Me With Your Best Shot, with a Guitar Hero mention I might add. Even more fun were renditions of Heartbreaker, Hell is For Children, (which apparently they play at every show to bring awareness to abuse), Invincible, You Better Run and Love is a Battle Field.
In case anyone is wondering, Pat can still belt out a tune, and I mean belt. Every one of her numbers demonstrates why Pat continues to wow audiences 30 years later. One audience member called out 27 times, and my friend Kelley has seen Pat Benetar just over 40 times, but this is only number 3 for me.
What made this show so very special -- stories of their 30 years together. Spyder recounts how he met "Patricia", they flew to California to record their first single, then back to NY to get their first touring band together. They spoke of their first MTV video which was actually the 2nd video ever to play on MTV "You Better Run". Pat also mentions that Sypder is technically the first guitar player to appear on MTV b.c the first video was all keyboard driven. Kudos to Mark who knew it was "Video Killed the Radio".
This show is not one to miss, and since Pat Benetar comes around about every year or so, you could probably catch her on the next wave. Karen, Carol and I HIGHLY recommend doing so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
