The Big Bang

It's time once again for the season opener of Orlando Shakes and what better way to get your laugh on than with veteran Philip Nolan.   It's so great to see Philip back again this year and in the opener.   I hear we get Tim back this year as well for "Every Christmas Story Ever Told".  Yea!!  Third time will be a charm for that production.

But first........

The Big Bang is a great little show about two aspiring writers pitching their mega-production about the history of the world.. They accomplish this feat while acting out all of the many parts using nothing but props in their apartment.  The real audience severs as prospective investors and Jed and Boyd come out dressed to the nines, serve  hors d' ourves and treat us like royalty just before launching into a series of absurd and hysterical skits.   Clothes come off, add in a little drag and wow, for a 2 man show, this one certainly packs a 'big bang".

Each section of the play details a scene from the start of the world, first we are introduced to Adam,  Philip plays the beautiful Eve and a sock puppet serpent.   From here the laughs just get louder as we move through ancient Rome and Chariot races to the Middle Ages and the Sistine Chapel.   Throw in the pop culture references every where, like Snapple, the Clapper, Godiva,  Virginia Ham and even Patchogue, Long Island and history never seemed so fun.  Who would have thought that Ms Ghandi and the Virgin Mary had so much in common.

This show is everything we have come to expect from this company and from Director Jim Helsinger.   We are so looking forward to another great season.

BIG kudos to the cast of the Big Bang for an amazing job
Jed played by Philip Nolen
