Adelitas Way with Cycle of Pain, Sick Puppies, and Shinedown
Another amazing show from the Vegas Rockers Adelitas Way. After 7 shows I never ceased to be impressed at how great they are. There were a lot of things I loved about this performance. Most notably that we heard both All Falls Down and Closer to You in the same set. Quite a treat.
First off acoustics are always great at the Orlando HOB. Standing about three heads back from the stage feels like the cherry spot in the room. This show was no different and standing in front of Chris is always fun; as those EVH cabs blast us to hell-its awesome.
The intro to Inside sounded a bit harder rock than usual and I really liked this. Maybe it was just that I hadn't heard it live in a whole 2 months--and it is a big favorite, but it just sounded a bit thrashier than usual. This is a great track and for a while it was available free by signing up on the Adelitas Way website. Check it out it still may be.
As I mentioned we were treated to All Falls Down and we just don't get enough of the this song. The lyrics to this track are so inspiring and we all can relate to the sweet tragic nature of this tune. It was such a treat to hear it back to back with Closer to You; like a little mood interlude.
It really seemed like all the guys had more energy than I have ever seen before. They ALLLL seemed really pumped to be playing in front of a packed house; and it was really really really full. Shinedown always packs it in at O-Town shows.
We were in front of Chris for this show and I was glad that we were b.c it's been a while since we stood on that side of the stage. Chris has gotten better and better and really works the crowd. He worked this one expertly and had everyone just loving those solos. Watching him play guitar is always so inspiring. I figured out another chord or 2 just watching him play. It's like an intensive lesson in being a virtuoso. Chris will clearly be one of the great guitarists of our time if he isn't already.
The only thing I missed was the long solo opening to So What If You Go; perhaps it had to "GO:
since they played both All Falls Down and Closer to You. We'll get it back again in another show. Perhaps one of the 3 we have planned for Nov!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's how I remember the set list:
1. Scream
2. My Derailment
3. Dirty Little Thing
4. All Falls Down
4. Closer to You
6. Inside
8. So What if You Go
9. Invincible

Band Time:
All the guys from AW make it a point to head out and say hi to the fans. I know this is always tough for them b.c they tour sooooo much that they need some down time. But we LOOOOVVVVVEEE it when they come and hang out even for just a little while and give lots of free hugs. This time I managed to get a non-blurry photo with Tre-finally!!!. I even got a photo with manager Shawn Hammer. We chatted a while with Keith; Rick and Chris who are always so willing to chat for a bit, take photos and sign everything we buy. This time I got the new T signed by all 5 members.
Shinedown; Sick Pups; Cycle of Pain
I do have to take a moment to mention the 3 other awesome bands. They all were truly wonderful. I was a HUUUUUGEEEE Shinedown fan after their first album and seen them live at HOB a few years ago. In fact the review I did of that show is one of the first I did on this blog-it's in the archives. I have all their catalog b.c I am just such a big fan. They did not disappoint. this crowd was truly theirs and they worked the audience to a mass of screaming goo. It was pretty cool. I was very happy to hear many old favorites but chose to be on the smoke deck for much of their set.
Sick Puppies is always wonderful, but alas we were up chatting with AW during their set. We did get to see Cycle of Pain and WOW I loved them. I will be hitting up their myspace page immediately.
