Adelitas Way at PlanetFest

We had a blast at Planatfest working for Adelitas Way through the Capitol Records sponsored Street Team.  Pam, Alyse and I worked the HUGH crowd, we put up posters, handed out stickers, gathered email addresses and talked to fans about the band and the street team  and this was all before we even got in the gates.  Once inside, the three of us worked like a team of seasoned veterans doing our part to promote our favorite rockers.    Looking around the venue, there seemed to be only one other band that had someone promoting for them.  When Pam and I left at around 4 we were exhausted but felt we did a great job getting Adelitas Way out there.

We arrived at the venue at 10:30AM where we met up with Alyse.  We spent the whole first hour preparing posters and looking for places to hang them around the entry way.   We opted for cement walls right by the LONG line to get in the door.   We even hit up a few poles and part of the gate.   Fans were naturally curious about the signs so we walked around holding posters explaining who we were and giving out stickers.

Once the gates opened, we waited by the entry way holding up posters with the guys set time listed and handed out more stickers to anyone that came up to us.   Once inside the gates we looked for high traffic areas and walked around with posters showing the set time and the stage area.   Several folks stopped by to chat to ask about the band's music and we were all too happy to tell them.  We even had a very special visit by Tre as he skated by on his board.

It was a very long morning and set time was at 2:50. We ran into Adam and Ian whom we had previously met in West Palm Beach at the Adelitas Way show in Aug (the canceled one).  We hung out with them for a bit, but Skindred was just about done playing so Pam and I made it over to the main stage to get a good spot.   We knew Chris wasn't  playing so the plan was to stand on Keith's side for this show.

Pam and I nailed a great spot just about center stage 3 from the front. I was a bit more to the right in front of Keith.   We started yelling once the guys did their sound check and Keith and Derek smiled and waved.

Adelitas Way played an awesome set as always.  Pam and I were thrilled when we saw that it was Creighton sitting in for Chris and although we could tell that some of the solos were missing, Creighton did an admirable job banging out portions of the difficult licks. The crowd was certainly appreciative and VERY rowdy I might add and all the songs sound great.   We certainly miss Chris VERY much but we love Creighton too.

Once the set ended, Rick came out to the signing table.   Pam, Alyse and I were in full email gathering mode.   I worked the email list while Pam pulled shirts for the fans.   I chatted with several fans about the Street Team b.c they were naturally wondering what we were doing with Rick.    Derek came out to sign autographs as well.    We got tons and tons of hugs from Rick and even Derek and Rick was, as always, extremely appreciative of the work we were doing.   He chatted with us for stolen moments when he could and said he was sick, but I think he sounded great today.

Pam and I had to leave, but Alyse stayed to gather email addresses.  We said our goodbyes, got more hugs and headed out.   Rick seemed glad that we were gonna be at ALL of the shows.  He knows we are AW fans forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I got every song:
Scream
My Derailment
Dirty Little Thing
Inside
Closer to Your
So What If You Go
Invincible
