Trivium with Chimaira and White Chapel at Firestone
Metal shows are always so nuts and this one was up there in the record books. I don't attend hard metal shows very often so is it any wonder I can't seem to remember that they are insanely wild and I really just need to stay out of the pit? This show's casualty was my cool metal flip flops which were trampled after about 3 minutes in the pit during Chimaira. I managed to get the heck out of there before getting completely pummeled.
White Chapel was probably the hardest band I have ever seen live. Not one single intelligible word. Cookie monster was definitely in the house. I was not at all impressed with this band, the guitars were muddled and very few if any memorable solos. Basically there is really nothing positive I can say about this band, except it's always fun to push the envelope with an even harder metal band.
Chimaira delivered the goods to the metal hardened Orlando crowd. I caught up with them once before at Music as a Weapon 4, but it was much better seeing them at a small venue like Firestone.
Trivium of course rocked the house. The homeboys are a favorite here in Central Florida and Firestone was packed to the gills a proof of a home city's loyalty. Matt was amazing and they played for well over an hour so it was so worth waiting through White Chapel and Chimaira to see Trivium. Matt's vocals are always so impressive to me, he transitions between clean and growl like it's simple. Here is a clip from Into The Mouth of Hell
After the show I lined up like the fan-girl that I am and got to meet Matt. Only official fan club members received this privilege and we had to buy a special ticket for this, but man it was so worth it even just chatting with Matt for a minute. He told me that he was thinking about teaching guitar lessons on his off time here in Altamonte. I am SOOOO there.
