Fall of Envy with Noon Blue at The Social

Made it out for another Fall of Envy Show.  This is the third one and the first FOE show of 2010.  It's also the first time seeing the new line up.   Ali came into Orlando and met me at the show.  Carie and Pam also came out and it made for a really fun girls night.   Basically the new bassist Dave was the hit of the night.   All the girls thought he was hot, and we all know how important that can be for a rock band.  If you get the girls you are in.  After all, the girls work the street teams, call in all the radio requests, and drag boyfriends to concerts who despite themselves end up loving talented bands like FOE.

I finally got some photos with the band members.  One with Michael the incredibly talented vocalist and one with the new bassist.  Everyone wanted one with him.   I also got to chat with Michael for a few minutes at the beginning and at the end of the show.  I learned that they will be playing another show at the opening of a new Orlando music venue in the old Cairo.  New name escapes me but it matches some name of an anti-depressant drug.

All the girls are very committed to returning to see the longer set on 2/26.   I knew they would love FOE, everyone that hears them play does.   Even without their "ballads" Poetic Rage or Far From Here, they captured the attention of every new fan in that club.    By the way I was really upset that they didn't at least play Poetic Rage, it is after all, the title track.    Michael mentioned that the band following them would be harder cross over, and they were, but so what.  Noon Blue was not, and Poetic Rage needed to be in the set.   It's a show stopper.

Hand to Hand and Noon Blue were good.  Hand to Hand had kind of a Killswitch Engage thing going on, basically metal core.   Not bad for a local band, they had a good sound and a really animated, energetic vocalist.   Noon Blue was the surprise of the night, I had listened to their stuff earlier that night and knew they had a hard rock meets ambient vibe.  It proved to be a good combination.  Even though as Carie put it, the lead vocalist didn't have the best voice, the music was pretty darn good.
