Adelitas Way and Taking Dawn Baltimore MD
Line up for NJ and Baltimore shows:
Taking Dawn
Adelitas Way
Halestorm
Theory of a Deadman
Driving to Baltimore was an interesting experience. We were midway through the drive when Ali awoke and started screaming because of the snow. We pulled over and got a couple of snow pictures at a truck stop on the side of I 95. The driving itself wasn't so bad, I clearly remembered how to do that. It was the ice on the windshield that continued to be an issue. I finally had to pull over and ask a gas station attendant to add some wiper fluid to my car. Turns out it was full, and I just wasn't pressing the correct button on the rental car. Ha-well we continued on slowly in the upcoming blizzard.
We finally made it into the city of Baltimore. The show itself was right in the heart of downtown. We had a great hotel, the Tremont which was literally a block from the venue. We took a shuttle to the show, but we eventually did walk back in the snow. It was kinda fun.
We got to spend some time with Rick and Creighton at this show. But only chatted with Keith and Derek for a few minutes. Rick is always great to be around and even when he is sick he always comes out in a great mood. We of course sold CD's but not nearly as many as the previous night.
TAKING DAWN
The story of this concert was Taking Dawn. Due to the Theory interview, we missed their set in NJ. When we were talking to Chris Babbitt that same night, he told us that we had better check out his set in Baltimore. After chatting with Chris, there wasn't a chance I would miss his band. He is so bubbly and clearly knows he is an awesome guitar player. Well he is absolutely correct .
I am now completely hooked on Taking Dawn. Ali and I made sure we were in the front for TD and AW. From the moment Taking Dawn started playing you think, Metallica meets Bon Jovi meets Motley Crue. They have that 80's vibe in their music but they are so completely 21st century in their approach and in their solos. No I never would have guessed that I had been missing 80's hair metal, and to be fair Taking Dawn is NOT that. But they sure do remind you about the very best that decade had to offer by way of metal music. Their attack, their attitude both on and of stage, their sheer talent and musicianship and their mind blowing performance easily turns you into a fan. Every single member of that audience became a fan that night of Taking Dawn.
We loved chatting with them afterwards, everyone told them how great they were. They must just love that. It was like the night we first heard Aranda and every single person became a fan. How totally incredible that must be. Chris Babbitt has that same thing that Dameon Aranda has pure unbelievable talent with that guitar, great vocals, great songwriting and an all around great guy. He is definately my new guitar god.
ADELITAS WAY
Of course they rocked it. Here are links to the video I shot at this show
