My Interview with Theory of a Deadman
Thanks to Facebook, I noticed a simple contest. Ask Theory 5 questions on their Myspace page and win an opportunity to interview Theory backstage before their show. Well I didn't have much competition for this one, because you already had to be attending their NJ show and there were maybe 20 entries at most.
Here are the 5 questions from my contest entry response:
Finding out how I won was really weird. Of course I forgot all about the contest in the excitement of getting to the show to see Adelitas Way. It just so happened that Ali asked me to pull up a profile on Myspace, and bam there was the email that I had won. The email had all the instructions and advised me to get in contact with the label rep right away. Since it was literally an hour before the doors opened, I had to speak with venue management who finally assisted in getting everything worked out. The band themselves didn't even seem to be aware they were being interviewed that night.
Finally, Ali and I were escorted backstage where we waited for about 20 minutes. That part was cool because we met Rick and Creighton back there, as well as the drummer from Theory who wasn't even in the interview. Next we were escorted upstairs to private/nice offices. A girl appeared from the label with a video camera and next thing we knew we were on film and meeting the guys from Theory.

Here are the 5 questions from my contest entry response:
- What do you think most separates TOADM from other rock bands making music today?
- If you could go back and re-live 9 years as a band, what would you like to do over or differently?
- Youhave worked with and met many different people in the music industry, have any of them provided significant inspiration or mentorship? Whichones and in what way?
- The music industry is ever-evolving. Which aspects do you most like about the industry today and whichaspects do you feel are most detrimental to new bands?
- What would you most like your new fans to know about Theory of a Deadman?
